Dear Hanuman,

I have always believed in you and you have always been there during the good but especially the bad times when chanting the hanuman chalisa was what got me through........but forgive but these days I feel I'm losing the connection with you and it is mostly my fault .......
well I was looking for a way to convey to you that I haven't forgotten you and you are still my best friend though am not always in touch.

My Dearest Medha,

Your revered name makes my heart leap, Princess Saravati. Of course you are always in my heart, as Lord Ram is in mine. Our connection is instant, never less. Each time you think on me, the vibration of thought soars through the atmospheres and lands (sometimes higglety-pigglety, but landing nonetheless) on my head. The strange thing about all this is that, wearing the golden beehive crown as I do, all those thoughts cause a ringing in my ears. That being the case it is sometimes a great blessing for you not to think of me, but keep me in your heart.

Your most admiring and humble monkey, Hanuman

Faulkner Wisdom Competition

My Dear Friends,

We are most pleased to discover that Patricia entered us in a competition with the name Faulkner in the title: the  2012 Faulkner-Wisdom Competition   and that We have been placed as semi-finalists adding to my long list of accolades including such accomplishments as the eating of the sun (an accident), the illumination of the three worlds (no thanks necessary), and the receipt of praise from the Four Corners of Creation. I would continue but modesty prevents.

Yours as ever,
Hanuman

A reader recently accused me of being a figment of my amanuensis' imagination. (Some have even implied I do not exist!)  I would point out that you, dear reader, and everyone else for that matter, are "figments."  Being a god, I have the privilege, and  perhaps ontological duty, to exist in multiple forms in excess of those of the average human being. I do exist in the same way mangoes exist, flower, fruit, and seed, green and ripe, not to mention juice, paste, chutney, pickle and tart. Yes Virginia, there is a Hanuman.

It occurs to one that the so-called discovery of the Higgs-Boson should not go unnoticed.
I was just picking cucumbers when the announcement came. I would offer you one, but there seems to be a space-time barrier.
We are delighted  that CERN has demonstrated an ability to locate said particle; however we continue to insist that it's a little like Columbus' claim to the discovery of the Americas.
But then the human perspective does have its quirks and quarks.

My amanuensis has been completely prostrate since her appearance at One More Page Books last Thursday. I must say, it's not my fault. I gave her every opportunity to go it alone but in the end she couldn't do without me. Personally I think it was a great success.

My Loyal Followers,

I am pleased by the devotion shown by humans. It is most humbling to know that my exploits are so admired. Indeed the game  Hanuman: Journey to Lanka is a testament to the endless creativity of your species.

Yours As Always,
Hanuman, the Mightty Monkey God

My Dearest Admirers,

Since all this flap about my being Patricia's muse, I thought it might be appropriate to respond to the inquiry by sharing a bit of the story of how the book originally came into being. Hence the excerpt to be enjoyed by one and all.

Yours Ever and Truly,
Hanuman,The Monkey God.
